In need of prayer...

For those of you who do not know, last Friday, July 6th we had to take Riley to the Emergency Room at Kaiser Lakeview (Anaheim) hospital. She had gone the whole day refusing to eat, not being able to suck or swallow & she had not had a bowel movement in several days. At the same time, she became very dehydrated. After spending a night in the emergency room & having almost every invasive test performed on her, they were stumped but checked us into the hospital. She continued to get weaker & weaker & her body was getting limper. It was not until Sunday morning that they felt very strongly that she could have Infant Botulism (a very rare thing that is a toxin that starts in the intestine & basically poisons a baby's nerve cells). It takes a few days to get the test results back, but the doctors did not want to wait. Her symptoms were right on & it needed to be treated right away. They transferred her to Kaiser Sunset (in LA) for better treatment.

On Sunday afternoon they ordered the one drug that is used to treat Infant Botulism & it had to be flown in from the east coast. It is called Baby BIG. Thanks be to God that they got it to the hospital relatively quickly & they were able to administer it to her late that evening.

Our church has set up a web page that will track her progress for everyone who wants an update. It is www.livingspring.com/riley.html. Please keep us all in your thoughts & prayers. Love, Aaron, Mindy & Riley Mills
