Birthday Pictures

Last Wednesday was Riley's 1st birthday. In honor of her birthday, we took her to Chuck E. Cheese...where a kid can be a kid! This was a low key celebration with just a few family members. It was actually kind of funny seeing 7 adults all crowded around a little baby girl who had no clue what was going on & could not walk or play games by herself. It was still fun though. She had some pizza & her own cupcake. She met Chuck E. & got to ride on that chair lift circle thingy...okay, I have no idea what it is called, but I totally remember it from when I was a kid (see picture below).

Riley loved her pizza...

And...she loved her cupcake...or at least the frosting.

The Party
On Saturday, February 23rd, we had her birthday party. The theme was ladybugs & daisies. We had the party at our friends' home (thank you Robert & Laura!). Their home is just beautiful & their backyard is amazing! The day started out beautiful, but it got a little wet & cold later, during the party. Everyone was a good sport despite the rain & it ended up being a pretty fun day.

Personally, I conquered a fear of mine - being creative, or at least being crafty. I wanted to make my daughter's birthday cake, but I was a bit intimidated by the idea. However, I found a way to have fun with it, & I think that her cake, as well as the cupcakes that were for everyone else, turned out pretty darned cute, if I do say so myself (thank you Brenda & Tay for your decorating help!). I made a lady bug cupcake for Riley, & cupcakes for everyone else. Together with my sister-in-law Brenda & friend, Tay, we decorated the cupcakes like daises, ladybugs & caterpillars. They were very cute! Unfortunately, I did not get a good picture of her cake, but I think you will be able to at least get the idea from the other pictures. She was not exactly sure what to do with the cake at first, but eventually she got the hang of it. She actually just loved picking off the little black frosting dots & putting them into her mouth. Most people say that the frosting is the best part, & I guess Riley agrees.

Overall, it was a fun day & we felt very special & grateful that so many people love our baby girl.

(Thank you Kandy for taking pictures at they party!)
