27 Weeks! (December 1st)

It's me again. I am just getting used to journaling, so I am sorry if there has not been anything new in awhile. Here I am at 27 weeks. This is just after Halloween & Thanksgiving & just before Christmas & Holiday Parties. I have a feeling that I may be huge. My husband is a big guy & I am pregnant during the time of year most of us gain weight anyway. As long as I am healthy & Riley is healthy, I do not mind, but it has been something I have had to come to terms with.

During my 27th week, I went and saw my midwife (Kaiser has Doctors & Midwives) for my normal check up. Everything went well, I got to hear Riley's heart beat again (always reassuring), and she measured my belly. For those of you who may not know, at our first ultrasound, they determined Riley had slightly over dilated kidneys. We had to do a follow up ultrasound with a radiologist for further diagnosis. We even had to meet with a genetics counselor, "just in case." To sum up, all the tests came back okay and the chances of any sort of genetic issue with Riley is highly unlikely. However, they do want to have another ultrasound at 33 weeks (which will be January 9th) just to monitor her & make sure the kidneys have not grown bigger then they should. There is a chance that she could just grow into them & everything will be okay. At the second ultrasound, they looked for signs of infection in her kidneys &/or malfunction, and did not find any. The kidneys seem to be functioning fine. At my appointment in week 27, I double checked with my midwife, & although she could not do a full on ultrasound there, she said that the fact that I am measuring correctly means there is plenty of amniotic fluid & her kidneys seem to be functioning just fine. We were grateful to hear that.

On a positive note...she is a lively one! I just started "kick counts" this past week. "Kick Counts" are where they monitor your baby's activity by having you count how many times it takes your baby to kick or move 10 times in a one hour period each day. 4 out of the 6 days, she move 10 times within 10 minutes. 2 of those days she did it within 2-3 minutes. She is going to be a handful! :-) But then again, what else would you expect from a Millsy.

I love you all. Please keep Riley & her kidneys in your prayers. God Bless!
