33 Week Ultrasound

Riley's Face

Riley looking at her hand

Aaron & I had our follow up ultrasound today. Thank you for all of your prayers about Riley's kidneys, they seem to be doing fine. In fact they are measuring smaller now. We only had a technician assist us, and she is limited to the information she can give us. Luckily, she knows me pretty well, and gave us just enough, but not too much information. I have a doctor's appointment on Thursday, where I hope to find out more about, well, everything.

The good news - her kidneys seem to be looking great and she seems to be very healthy. The scary news - she also seems to be a pretty good size baby. She is measuring out to what normally a 35 week baby would be (I am at 33 weeks). The technician showed us an estimate the pretty much ranged from 5-7 lbs as of right now. Which means, she is on track to weigh 8-10.5 lbs at full term! We have yet to confirm this with the doctor...so I am very much anticipating Thursday's appointment. I know that people have bigger babies all the time...heck my amazing sister-in-law just brought a beautiful 9 lb baby boy into this world. It is just a little scary. We think there is a chance the doctor might want to monitor her weight/size and possibly plan a C-Section if she is too big for me to deliver. This was a thought we had, but not yet something we know or have confirmed.

Either way, it was very exciting to see her ultrasound today and hear her heartbeat. Above are pictures of her face & hand. See if you can make them out. We think she has my lips, but I am sure it is still too early to tell.

Thank you all again for your prayers...but please stop praying for her to "grow" into her kidneys. :-) Just kidding. We truly thank all of you who care so much. It means the world to us.
