Catching up with Rachel & DavidShortly after our return from Scotland, Aaron & I went to my 10 year high school reunion. Has it been 10 years??!! Wow. Leading up to the reunion, I actually started having dreams about high school, it was weird. I would literally wake up panicked because I did not study for a test or did not do my homework. I really never had those problems much in high school, these were more stress or panic dreams I think.
I had a lot of mixed feelings on whether or not I should go, but ultimately, I am very glad I went. Everybody was so nice. I did not really think that the people I would want to see would be there, but they were & more. It was actually wonderful catching up with everyone. Nobody seemed like they were trying to "out do" each other (the stereotype of every high school reunion). Also, we were all at different points in our lives - some married with kids, some married no kids, some still in school, some single, some at temporary jobs, some at very high level jobs, some stay at home moms & they came from all over the map. It was actually neat to hear what people did to get there. One couple drove from Utah & had arrived only hours earlier. One guy, who sat in front of me (due to our last names) since like 5th grade showed up late because he just got off of work (he is a fire fighter) in Lake Tahoe & drove down.
They had a Class of 1997 banner that we all signed way back when. None of us remember signing it, but there is my signature. Yes, I know my handwriting looks like a 3rd grade boy's, but there you go.They had a DJ, but nobody really danced at first. He just played really loud music & we all shouted over it to have conversation. My throat hurt that night, not just the next morning. We did finally, however, get out on the dance floor. I felt old. I used to dance. I used to love to dance; but it has been so long, and well, the type of dancing you do in high school feels strange when you are almost 30 & a new mom. I felt so "un-hip" & my daughter is not even a teenager yet! They did play our music from the 90's, though, & that was pretty fun.

Friends I do not see near enough: Roberto, Olive, Hollie & Marilen.
Aaron & I graduated in different years & went to different schools. Funny thing was, Aaron & I have been together since high school. We have been together since my junior year of high school. Most everybody remembered him too! One girl even said that she recognized him & she thought he was in our class. He is actually in our yearbook.
Hollie & I
I don't know why, but my biggest surprise of all was how nice everybody was. I guess because reunions have that horrible stigma, but everyone was really nice. I enjoyed talking to everyone. Oh, & my 2 favorite teachers showed up! I was so excited to see them again. Afterwards though, I was really sad that there were some people that I did not get a chance to talk to. Well, maybe I will get a chance to talk to them at the 20 year reunion. :-)

Whose camera do we look at?

I loved this blogg! I also love that our picture is up there! It is my new screen saver at work. Don't you dare feel un-hip about your dancing. You were the best and sexiest dancer in high school and I bet you still are. No matter what you do, your kid is going to think you're un-hip. That's just the way it works.
