9 months & crawling

This week Riley turned 9 months old, & the past 2 weeks have been BIG weeks for her! She started doing so much & being interested in so much, it is hard to keep track of what is new now. It all just kind of happens, & then you get used to it so quickly, it is hard to remember when she was not doing something. Some of the milestones she has made in the last 2 weeks include: cutting her first tooth, clapping, creeping, & now, yes, crawling!

Here is an update on Riley at 9 months:
  • She weighs 17 lbs 3 oz
  • She measures 28" in length (She grew 3 inches in 3 months!)
  • She laughs when mommy says "no." (I am not so happy about this one.)
  • She has been creeping most of this past month, but she started crawling this week!
  • She cut her first tooth. It is a bottom one. She has had a couple of fussy nights, but overall, is taking it very well.
  • She loves to clap! She also knows that when we say "yeah" & clap, that is her cue to do the same.
  • She clicks (like Grandpa Mills) & babbles to her heart's content.
  • She has babbled "ma ma ma ...," but seems to prefer "da da da da"
  • Although she has enjoyed her jumper & excersaucer, she prefers having the floor with a basket full of toys to dump out.
  • Favorite Toys: an old cell phone, a golf ball, mommy's bracelet, keys - you know, none of the brightly colored toys that we all spend so much money on.
  • She can pull herself up in her crib on her own. (That was a fun one to walk in on after her morning nap.)
  • She smiles a lot. I often get comments from friendly strangers on how happy she is.
  • She is quite opinionated & will try to let you know what she wants. When she wants something (food or nap usually) she shakes her head & says "aaaaaaa."
  • She is a great eater & has now expanded her repertoire to include: plums, apricots, broccoli, kiwi, pumpkin, turkey, chicken, & spinach.
  • She still hates peas.
