Our camping trip (continued...)

Oh...before I forget, we learned a valuable lesson in San Simeon. We had a rubbermaid container on the back of the RV which contained the dog food in it. There is nothing like being woken up in the middle of the night by a determined raccoon wanting jumping all over a part of your RV. Boy, does that RV shake & rock easily. We learned a lesson, unfortunately, we still were not very smart when we got to Big Sur.

On Sunday we left the beach front San Simeon for the redwood forest of Big Sur. It was only a couple of hours away, so we got there in plenty of time to still enjoy the beautiful day. The weather was beautiful. The sun was out & there was just a small cool breeze. Our campsites were located in the back of the campground, right on the river. There was practically nobody else there, so it felt very private. One of my favorite things was the sound of the river. It was so peaceful.

(Our home sweet home.)

(Our backyard.)

On Monday, we went on a hike (yes, babies & all). Again, Riley did amazingly well! She loved being outside, "hanging" out with Daddy, & experiencing all beautiful sights, sounds & smells of nature.

It was quite a work out for me. The distance was not as bad as the up hill climbing.

(Smiling, when not going uphill.)

(We made it to our destination, Pfieffer Falls, just in time for lunch.)

We enjoyed our sandwiches by the waterfall & were visited by some overly friendly Blue Jays. There were Blue Jays everywhere - at our campsite & at the falls. They are so used to people though, that they have no fear. A few actually flew to Aaron & took the food he offered from his hand!

Aw Mindy, this is great! I am so impressed at the traveling you've done with your precious Riley. I am getting so excited to meet her I can hardly stand it! We'll have to do a baby trade for an afternoon. = ) You look just like Kate on LOST in that hiking picture! -Meg
