We were so excited to join Jason, Megan & Christian at church yesterday. Getting there in & of itself was an adventure. Let's just say, it was a very rainy day. It is a walking culture out here, so you cannot just hop into your car & get where you need to go. We felt like true Scots, navigating our way to the Underground where we met Jay & meg, then took the Underground to Bridge Street where we hopped on a bus. When we got off the bus, we still had a short walk to the church. All this in pouring rain with baby, stroller, rain cover, 2 umbrellas, diaper bag & jackets in tow. Well, guess we aren't true Scots yet...I am sure there is a way to minimize how much stuff you bring when you walk so much.
It was raining outside, so we were not able to get a good picture of their church. It was really neat to attend church inside a beautiful, historic, Gothic building. Here is a simple picture from the inside.

The service was nice, but I had to leave shortly after the Pastor started his sermon to go change Riley. I had no idea what I was in for. Everyone at Queen's Park Baptist was so nice. I was directed downstairs to the nursery area. They had a good size room for the 0-2 year-olds to play in, as well as a room off to the side to change diapers, nurse, or put babies to sleep. The volunteers there were amazing! There were like 20 babies between 0-2 years in there AND they were all happy! There were about 7-8 adults (men & women) taking care of them. It was organized chaos & they were handling it great. No child was being ignored. All of them were playing. I heard no crying, but lots of squeals, laughs, babbling, singing & toys clanging together. I was in awe of their child care & how happy & joyful everyone seemed to be.
After church, we went back to Jason & Megan's flat. The babies napped & Megan & I got some great girl talk time while Jason took Aaron around the city. They visited the Kelvingrove Museum, but were kicked out because it was closing time.

Later, Riley & I joined the boys for a tour around Glasgow University. Jason was a great tour guide. He shared stories about the University, the Church of Scotland's influence on the education system, & success stories from their ministry work here in Glasgow. It was so neat to see where their hearts & passion have been for the last 4 years.

Outside the University we stumbled upon the famous red phone booths. So, of course, we had to take some pictures.

Finally we enjoyed the view from one side of the campus, & there Aaron was inspired -
Whoops...Slippery Marble
(Inside Joke, sorry)
