13 Months

Today Riley Mae is 13 months! Here are some of her new & exciting developments:

• At her 12 month visit on 2/26/08, she weighed 19 lbs 10 oz & measured 29.5" in length.


• The doctor asked us how many words she knew, but we were not really sure how to answer that question. The doctor said if she continually calls something the same thing, then that counts as a word. So here is what we came up with: "dah" (dog), "dadada" (dadda, maybe), "woa" (when she is balancing") & most recently "ticka, ticka" (when she tries to tickle herself; yes, it is incredibly cute!).


• Riley loves to cuddle soft toys & people. When we say "cuddles" she will lay her head against the person or toy she is with. She love "cuddles!"


• Riley's 8th tooth just came in. This has been sort of a fussy month for her. She has had 4 teeth come in & it is made her a bit cranky at times.


• She is both enjoying her new found food freedom & becoming more & more picky. She used to only refuse peas, but now, she really does not care for anything green. She also prefers to feed herself than to be fed; & she rather have what you are having than something on her own plate.


• She has found a love for ice cream! As well as waffle cones!


• Riley has been exercising her legs by doing squats to pick up things.


• She now faces front in the car seat (unfortunately, that means she can see us if we are snacking & she lets us know that she wants some too).

I know there were other things that I wanted to write, but I cannot think of them right now. I will update this later if I think of anything!

OH!!! Did I forget to mention...that Riley is WALKING! She took 2 steps last Saturday, then last night she was feeling daring. She took 1 or 2 here & there & then took 8 steps & another 8, then 7 & then...she walked across the room to waive hi to our dogs & took 20 steps! She also took another 20 a little later. What is mommy going to do...I now, officially have a toddler!!!
